Welcome to the Sleeping Lion Motel's World Wide Web Site!

We've got some rarified company on Otsego Lake's fabulous Motel Mile.  And as you can see from our picture, the Sleeping Lion is by no means the loudest or flashiest cat on the block.

So what is it that sets us apart from the pack?

For roughly the price of an ordinary motel room, we offer our guests a spacious two-room suite, with deck, dock, couch, cable, and kitchenette.

Take a look inside and see if we're right for you.

No matter how you enjoy them, our air-conditioned two-room suites are certain to enhance your Cooperstown experience.

Your troupe will appreciate the extra privacy.  This is supposed to be a vacation!  So watch TV a little later.  Head down to the fishing dock a little earlier.  Grab a midnight snack without waking light sleepers.   Or sleep in yourself, and enjoy some private time with you-know-who.

Our suites are tastefully furnished and comfortable.

Junior looks especially rested and cheerful in the knotty pine kitchenette.

Family Vacation is not an oxymoron here at the Sleeping Lion Motel!

Plus, you'll really love what's on the outside.

On our shore along Otsego Lake, we have a large dock for boating.  Otsego Lake is the home of many species of game fish: lake trout, small and large mouth bass, wall-eyed pike, pickeral and the delicious Otsego bass.

Boats and tackle can be rented from several nearby liveries. Veteran fisherman will assist you by pointing out some of the best locations.  Also, a published fishing map of the area is available.

Many fine restaurants along the shore and in Cooperstown provide the most discriminating diner a wide variety of culinary delights.

Our location along the lake is just six miles north of historic Cooperstown, the home of baseball, with the National Baseball Hall of Fame, The Farmers' Museum, and many other attractions.  We suggest you take a boat ride in order to witness the majesty of "Glimmerglass", the nine miles of Otsego Lake, made famous by James Fenimore Cooper in his "Leatherstocking Tales."

Cooperstown and the surrounding countryside offer: Fenimore House Museum, Doubleday Batting Range, Lake Otsego Boat Tours, Glimmerglass Opera (just 2 miles north), Fine Art, Gift and Antique Stores, Cooperstown Fun Park, Cooperstown Dreams Park, Cherry Valley Museum, Howe Caverns, Petrified Creatures Museum, Herkimer Diamond Mines, Remington Arms Museum, CharlesTown Factory Outlet and the new Fire House Museum.
